White Pod Resort. Swiss Alps.

The Swiss are too exacting to build igloos, so they prefer perfectly precise geodesic domes.  Tres chic and cozy, these pods are neatly nestled in a ski resort with a newly constructed spa to melt away in.  All pods are equipped with wood burning stoves, organic luxury bedding and full bathrooms.

About $500/weekend night.

Hector’s Apartments.  Kent, UK.

The apartments’ decor is understated and minimalist, with neutral milk and cream shades providing the perfect foil to the dazzling green and blue views, be they seafront, gravelly garden or castle-facing.  Yes, a castle right outside your doorstep.  Hit this place up on your way to the Chunnel.

About $550/3-day weekend.

Lute Suites.  Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

This gives me a bit of a spooky feeling i.e. getting trapped in the attic, but it is cool nontheless.  A former gunpowder factory, the interiors were designed by Marcel Wanders. I hear the food is amazing (chef Peter Lute), hooray for Amsterdam.

About $400/night.

Treehotel. Sweden (cont. from previous post)

It’s officially opened!  Besides the Mirror Cube, there is one that is UFO’ish, one that may be made of red leggos, and a nest for Where the Wild Things Are.

From $500-700/night.

Hotel Kakslauttanen, Saariselka, Finland.

I’m obsessed with ice hotels…and now, I’m all about glass teepees, and glass igloos! Just a mere 250km north of the Arctic Circle. Not so convenient.

About $950/night…brrrrr.

I *ucking love Berlin!  Propeller Island City Hotel.

What weird and fantastical things that come from a previously oppressed and dismal society.  Don’t know if I could get some ‘guter schlaf’ in a coffin, nor in an upside down room, nor a cell of mirrors, but these often reflect my own dreamstates so I just might be feelin’ it.

From $90 for the smallest Medi-Terra room, to $250 for a pair of lion cages.  For realz.
